Surf Conditioning Coach
Morley’s surf conditioning will increase your surfing level through proper body movement and precise muscle development. His coaching focuses on balance, speed, agility, coordination and strength training in and out of the water. This allows surfers to paddle faster, land bigger moves; increase breath hold, flexibility, and time spend in the water.
Surfing, like many sports requires a lot of practice to get better. The best way to get better at some thing is to do it over and over again. This is plain and simple, repetition. What I do in repetition is train surfers on the best strength and conditioning techniques possible, allowing them to be in the most complete surf shape ever. I only have surfers training 3 times a week on dryland. There is no point in losing time with dryland training if you are not surfing more. You will become better at surfing by being in the water and having your trials and errors. To develop endurance, power, and flexibility you will do it in the gym.
Surfing has many physical demands and the ocean has a mind of its own, proper dryland surf training and in water execution should be your conditioning coaches primary concern. While looking into surfing for the long term, practicing and developing the proper technique with good form, basic movements from the ground up will prepare the most stable and flexible body for surfing. No one will do kettlebell squats until they can do a perfect squat easily. Regular pushups will be demonstrated effectively before any pushup progressions or weights are added.
